Fees for Canadian Families
During the developmental stages of Freedom Canada, I am offering a no fee service. I hope that this will allow my company to become established, and to tailor my business to the needs of Canadian Families.
There are absolutely no fees to process your papers to hire a foreign caregiver. The only fees you may incur are for postage and paper advertisement (if this is required in the province you reside in). If your caregiver must return to the Philippines prior to coming to Canada, there may be fees due to that government before they are given permission to leave the country.
Flight and visa fees are negotiable between you and the caregiver you hire.
The employer is required to obide by the regulations as set out province to province. The caregiver must be paid full time hours at the minimum wage in your province. The caregiver must reside at the family residence and room and board is set and varies from province to province. All employment conditions must be in accordance with the employment standards for your Province. This includes but is not limited to regular hours of work, overtime, statutory holiday, statutory pay, and time off.
You have the option to have Freedom Canada set up and provide you with instructions regarding the payroll. If you hire a foreign caregiver, you are then required to obtain a business number, and deduct all applicable taxes. In addition to the wages, you are required to contribute to CPP and EI - these amounts vary from province to province, but are usually around $100.00 per month. If you would like Freedom Canada to do a complete payroll set-up, the fees are a flat, one time fee, of $50.00.
There are no other "hidden" fees involved - in fact, there are quite a bit of hidden fees you save if you are using a regular daycare, such as fuel to and from the daycare, over-time if your child is left over regular business hours, and you may find that your grocery bill actually goes down because you don't have to rush and get take-out as often!
